1923 Outfitting. Guided expeditions and heritage gear.

I.The Field

The country chooses its guests.

1923 Outfitting is the doorway to the country we keep. Hunts, fly-fishing, pack trips, fall camps, long rides — taken on land that has been stewarded and worked by the same hands for a century. We are an outfitter and we are a maker. The trip and the kit are cut from the same cloth.

We do not run a season. We run a tradition. Bookings are kept small, guides are kept long, and every trip ends with the country left as it was found.

II.Expeditions

All trips by application. References are exchanged.

III.The Gear

Made to be inherited.

1923 Gear is a small, deliberate line of outdoor equipment built from materials that age well — waxed cotton, full-grain leather, brass, hardwood. Designed in our shop, made in limited runs by the same domestic workshops year after year.

Nothing is a season. Every piece is repairable, re-waxable, re-stitched, re-finished. We will service it as long as the house is in business.

  • i.Waxed canvas field jackets & range coats
  • ii.Full-grain leather rifle scabbards & saddle bags
  • iii.Hand-rolled wool bedrolls & canvas tarps
  • iv.Field knives & brass-cased game shears
  • v.Heritage optics, cased & lanyarded
  • vi.Camp coffee kit & enamel mess

The collection is small by design. Most pieces are made to order.

IV.The Code

How we run a trip.

V.Correspondence

Apply for the season.

Trip applications and gear inquiries are answered by post. Booking is by reference. We work the country we were given, and we choose the company we keep on it.

A trip is a tradition, not a transaction.
